Anyone know if it's the Tokyo Team storyline only, the end of all Gantz mangas entirely, or a total franchise retirement 😕 484kq

If there's more to come, hopefully it's manga or anime, and not that live action crap --- all those attempts by the writers to show that they earned their keep resulted in some ridiculous changes simply for change's sake, all the character's traits got diluted so far they become unrecognizable, and the casting really flopped to top it off...

HOWEVER, really seems like it could use a second anime, since the last one was quite good at capturing the feel, but is 9 years old now, with multiple arcs and hundreds of chapters released since... Also, some FullHD goodness wouldn't hurt here.

PS on a separate note, any bets on how the final fight's gonna end? Curious what ppl think... though, likely, tomorrow will tell. Far too many loose ends left for the last chapter not to be an epilogue.

Personally, I was really weirded out by how the final fight started so shounen-ish, blowing lil tiny 17yo Kurono out of proportion and turning him into the planet's champion & #1 warrior... but, fortunately, things didn't work out quite so easily.

...and, now that he's landed the first shallow cut and then got ring'd out and sent flying with a sharp kick, things seem back to being in character. Since Kurono is far the from the strongest, even on Tokyo Team (having cleared just once, despite being the longest-standing member, and thus being somewhat BELOW average for anybody who survives past their first couple missions) - but IS the most reckless, bullheaded berserker of the bunch, and the type to rally the real heavy hitters by example when the rest of the team is too dispirited to fight...

HOWEVER, even with the Giant Hero's "presence" just awing everyone into deer-in-the-headlights mode, very little of what's going actually makes sense, right?

...no one's using ANY of their advantages:
*no Z-guns tried
*(seemingly) nobody cloaked
*not a single hard suit in sight
*nobody's bothered to try to transfer the critically wounded, despite having control of the American Gantz ball (then again, that might be the surprise ending - with Tokyo Team's dying unexpectedly surviving from a transfer on their last breath... or with with the melee couple getting dropped in right on Alien Hero's head, possibly cloaked and/or in hard suits)

Also, none of the heaviest hitters are in the fight... Katou (highest score in one round) is back to freezing up in horror, and Virgin-kun (highest point average per round, fastest to learn, craziest berserker of the bunch... though he doesn't realize it) has yet to make his move. AND there should be at least one Z-gun laying on the ground somewhere near the fight.

Also uned for:
*Takeshi (lol) - somewhere on the ground
*Kaze and Mary - might have been transferred somewhere near a working Gantz ball and decide to re the fray... or, might get 'recalled' to the fight if somebody has the presence of mind to start using that last functioning American ball up on the mothership
*Host Samurai - whereabouts unknown, likely still "ed" as a Gantz/Tokyo player... quite possibly has a Z-gun (seen picking one up in Italy, might have transferred back with his 'trophy' a la the 2 Kuronos); unlikely as it is, might even have been picked to pilot one of the mechas and gotten a hard suit out of it?
*Nishi - he cried and cursed and gave up, but we didn't really see him die, did we?
*Kurono's hard suit - voluntarily removed not destroyed - possibly, a Gantz ball transfer (instead of the alien teleport that sent him to the duel) might put him back in his suit?

...anyway, seems like it could go a whole lot of ways here. Two things I'm pretty sure of:

  1. Kurono won't win the fight singlehandedly, even if all of the first wave to rush to him get slaughtered - cause this ain't shounen manga

  2. Kurono won't die - cause Reika's Kurono #2 died precisely for the, a) credibility of Tae-chan's Kurono's survival, and b) the normality of his future... plus, c) Gantz team with romantic interests only ever die with somebody to French kiss in the general vicinity, or with a rather suicidal yearning to re a fallen lover

Likely scenarios:
*MOST LIKELY: Katou/Virgin-kun heaviest-hitters tag team finally enters the fray and nails the Giant Hero
*Kaze/Mary transfer back and curb stomp him
*Cloaked gaijins in hardsuits arrive, then politely inquire wtf "Team China" / "Team Korea" thinks it's been doing all this time
*...and somebody finally has the presence of mind to use the America ball to transfer the fatally wounded back to health. Or the America ball suddenly decides to grant somebody a few hundred points for winning the final battle (in this case, probably Kaze and/or Mary, since they've been transferred by it already and are more likely to be "recognized" as part of its "roster"?)

...WHAT DO YOU GUYS EXPECT 😕

I'm not exactly sure, as I haven't read it in a while (I'm waiting for it to end), but the authors clearly stated that the invasion arc was the 'last stage/phase'. If they already reached an end of the invasion, then yes, there will be no more Gantz.

Yep, that arc's pretty much done.

What I meant was there were little manga bonus chapters testing the waters for spinoffs, 2 crappy liveaction movies, 2 seasons of good anime (with unanimated manga material for another 5 or so), and some number of side books/light novels/whatever the heck... The conclusion for Kurono & Katou/ Team Tokyo mustn't necessarily affect the further development of those.

This should probably be posted in the Gantz forums.
