The love story between a boy and his demon cat. Ahh... w2r20

Haha, not really but YES at the same time. All the stories are love stories between youkai and their humans, and I love the themes: the struggle to love someone whose life is a short a firefly's, the determination to overcome pride and stay with your version of happiness, of overcoming fear to accept love and banish loneliness, of becoming...

Lolicon master-servant relationship! Haha, I love it. The boy is mild-mannered but kickass competent and loyally devoted, my favorite. Innocent.

At times inventive and surprising with such a thinking heroine who isn't prone to exploding her messy emotions everywhere, and crafty girls who know how to manipulate people in actually smart ways. I appreciate that. Sometimes falls into becoming too sentimental.

The story and art is pretty good (though what the hell is with that weird reincarnation/flashback intro that has nothing to do with the flow of the series?) but the translations are really terrible. Seriously, whoever is translating this series--GET AN EDITOR. The English is terrible. And stop using a thesaurus: because those words? Do not mean what you think they mean.

But the art is really...

I'm really impressed. This is the first actually strong heroine I've seen in a while. She's gutsy but smart enough not to be fearless, and the ways she shows her vulnerability melts me (and it seems, the prince). The prince is actually nasty but shows hints of...not goodness, but softness when it comes to the heroine, which will be interesting, as he is still quite a horrible person. (Just because...

A really interesting exploration in what could have been a cheap Dr. Dolittle gimmick: If you can hear and listen to both humans and animals, where does the line stand? What is a voice and what is just noise?

Narusawa has obviously been seriously affected by this dilemma, and his decision was to close everyone off, it seems--everyone is just noise--and that decision makes him a scary man. What's...

I love absolute devotion. Fraw adores Kio. It's so unhealthy and yet.... This is a sugar-fest of a story with a good angsty-mysterious plot to it. I love when the protagonists get loved on so much by everyone around him by being his cluelessly virtuous, kind self.

This isn't yaoi, and this isn't shounen-ai. This manga is amazing for being one of the rare, special manga that portrays the complexities of gender and sexual identity in real life in an approachable, charming, way that really draws you in. Prunus Girl challenges you with a main character--the love interest--who's not outright transgender, but refuses to cram himself into either of the "boy" or...

This manga combines two favorite things for me: yakuza and demon spirits! How awesome is that? A+++++

I love the interaction of Rikuo and his youkai underlings as the master (in training) of basically a biker gang. I also love the basic ghost stories and interaction with the real world as a halfling supernatural being, kind of in, more than kind of an outsider but trying desperately hard to fit in...

It's exactly like all their other works. You either love it...or why are you even bothering? Obviously CLAMP evokes everything Lisa Frank and rainbow unicorns for me, which is made better by random evil/edgy twists in otherwise tame and mild characters and other crack that has been CLAMP trademarked, so I'm just another zombie follower. A happy zombie follower, though. They made a badass bunnie...

No really, I really just like sympathetic stories about ostensibly evil dudes who turn out to be awesome gentle mild-mannered amazing AND secret kickass.

I also like that for an ecchi manga, the girls are very smart, independent, capable, and strong. A lot of the focus in the story is a considerate portrayal of how the two princesses grow into themselves, and I really appreciate how complete...

Sweet yet oddly skewed! The heroine is definitely not quite normal, which is refreshing since she shouldn't be, haivng been raised by a demon and a witch. I love that she doesn't get mad at the things she should--finding out she had a demon servant who was ordered to become her a friend, for one, and yet gets outrageously awkward-upset at other things, like the demon she likes eating another girl...
