Description

Good story.

It's a good and well developed story with interesting characters. I like both of them - cocky but good hearted veterinarian with sharp tongue and broken-hearted pharmaceutical salesman who can't get through his past. Satoru wasn't weak, he just had to restrain himself from showing his true feelings or saying what he really thinks in order to keep his job. A weakling wouldn't be able to stand this much. Anyway the story is good and slightly different from usual yaoi (ending was also a little unexpected) and I mean it in a good way.

Sadly there are also imperfections, this work is lacking of sex (there are only few scattered and extremely short scenes, the longest has 3 pages where 2 of them contain only blushing faces) the characters were too stiff, and at times there was something wrong with body proportions. The art is neat but old fashioned, it's not a bad thing but it's not an asset either. Anyway it's still worth to read (if you don't hate this type of art).

I won't even try to pretend that I read this for any reason other than the bespectacled seme -- one of my favourite tropes that's all-too-rare -- but I have some thoughts on the story, too.

Happily, I really liked Toudou -- he was a truly decent guy, which is more than can be said for 99% of yaoi seme. But the problem was Satoru, or rather, the Satoru's attitude towards Toudou. It's pretty obvious that he's using him as an emotional replacement for the BF who dumped him way back when, and throughout the story he's completely hung up on the fact. The only reason he even considers anyone else is because the ex-BF is getting married while the new love interest is so persistent and straightforward in his advances. In fact, Satoru started to reciprocate Toudou's feelings quite literally in the last chapter, once the ex had married and become well and truly unavailable. It was pretty abrupt, and I found myself vaguely insulted on Toudou's behalf; he's too good to be anyone's replacement, though frankly the ex was a pretty okay guy himself. The mangaka tried to salvage this in the epilogue, but it seemed a bit forced, tbh.

And on the flipside, I can't imagine what made Toudou so suddenly devoted to Satoru, despite his continuous rejections and insults. In a way, Satoru was short-changed, too, since the only side of him we got to see was the "hurt by former BFF-turned-lover-returned-to-BFF and using faithless promiscuity as a safety net" side, which catered specifically to the image of a "cold-but-internally-fragile uke that the seme needs to save from himself."

So what's the final verdict? If you like stories which are more about "letting go of old love" than about "finding new love," then this is ideal for you. That said, it's more mature than most yaoi out there, which is a definite plus.

I actually enjoyed this manga more than I thought I would. It's one of those heart-wrenching stories that manage to tug at your heart strings without being all mushy or angst-filled. Nothing extravagant, but not submissively quiet either. Although at first glance it might seem lacklustre the inner core is so strikingly and unexpectedly well thought out. It's been a long time since I've stumbled on a manga similar to this.

I strongly dislike the uke in the prequel. I did not hate him as much after reading this but I still hes rather selfish and promiscuous. The story is cute and sweet at some part but they focus way too much on the uke's relationship with the other guy. At the end, the uke change of heart is rather sudden, considering who's slow the story is going. The extra is cute though.

THE EYES lol I couldn't stop noticing them! Both the protagonists looked like they had lazy eyes/were chameleons because their irises were just floating all over the place. One was looking right, one was looking left... Willy nilly-like

It was fun! 🙂 Very good and charming!
The Seme is really know how to handle someone like the Uke, even though he dare to compare the Uke with animals. And the Uke is so dishonest person though in Meguriau yo Baby he has bad character didn't mean he IS 'bad character'. Both the protagonist is suitable each other. They really need each other. Fantastic! Worth to be read. ♥

Honestly i didn't have any expectations with this one, because i was not too fond of one of the main characters in the prequel. I should have known there was more to the character that met the eye, and i'm glad i gave it a go; it was such a good read...i hope we get another story or two that will be connected to this series.

I kinda doubted I would enjoy this manga since I strongly disliked Satoru in the prequel (Meguriayu Baby) - but I was surprised, since he not only turned out to be a decent men in this story but also a VERY strong lead character. I love this type of uke: strong (or likes to pretend to be strong), cool/cold (oh but the inside...) and someone who has so many fears and emotions wrapped and hid inside him.

It was a very nice and subtle story, one of Kinoshita-sensei's best, in my opinion. The first chapter already left a very nice impression with me - the animals added a funny side to the manga while the characters were mostly dramatic and serious. The seme is a hilarious guy, you gotta love him. And it really touched my heart how he finally managed to calm poor suffering uke's heart.
H-scenes are short, touching, emotional. No wank material. 😛
About the art: well, I like sensei's style - it's very subtle and easy on the eyes -, but I guess you can't really call it "beautiful".

Anyway, I found Don't Cry Baby a very enjoyable and thoughtful manga, so don't skip it! Recommended. ^^
