I the plot pretty well, but the name of the novel escapes me. If you're reading this, I'd appreciate any help you could offer me. 6h205z

Spoilers for like the first 10 chapters (i think)

I think this was a novel (95% sure), but anyway: this middle-aged unfit guy (the Main Character) wakes up in some mysterious place (it's described as a kind of void) with a bunch of younger strangers and he has no idea what's going on, but they all do.

I guess they're in some sort of pre-summoning room because they signed up to go to another world and kill monsters and stuff for a reward (I there was a specific title for their job, but I don't ).

so they check the MC's stats and it turns out that he's basically useless. So they're trying to figure out what to do with him and he's kinda freaked out because he doesn't know what's going on, and then one of them says that he has to grab some equipment because the space they're in is going to collapse and they need to leave to their job location.

I'm not sure if he grabs a bar or something first, but somewhere along the line he ends up carrying around a tower shield, and i think he remarks that he feels like a turtle or something.

so they arrive at some sort of tower in the middle of a field and they assume that that's the place they need to go (nobody's there to guide them or anything), so they walk in and see that there's an upper floor and a basement, but the basement's chained shut so the go up first.

they find out (by having to fight off a hoard) that there's skeletons encased in the walls that awaken if they hear noise, so they have the guy who's really good at killing stuff kill the skeletons instantly through the wall before they can wake up.

they get to an upper floor and they find two giant skeletons that each have a bowl on their head carrying the cursed hearts that fuel curse on the tower, they end up fighting them, and the MC sacrifices himself to save some girl.

Misc details:
-there's magic that's cast via wands
-there's one guy who just goes HAM with a mace (he literally powders bone), one guy who's good at killing stuff with some sort of blade (i think), a leader, some guy who steps on a poison bear trap and dies early in the tower, and some girl who has powerful magic. there are also some other team , and all of them are around college age I think.
