Where I live most people are surprised that i like anime and manga because i'm african-american. They usually group me into being "ghetto" ,but are surprised when i talk normally, listen to a huge genre of music from rock to opera, and can beat their sorry butts in a game of chess. 4o6r6n

I agree with the term "genocide" as the one best used to explain what happened to the Native peoples. colonization happened in many areas of the world, but in the western hemisphere, it happened somewhat differently depending on the country which colonize. For example, although acts of cruelty were committed against the Natives of present day Latin America, it was not as massive as what happened in the US. Spanish I guess needed the enslavement of natives as well as Africans and the tribute (taxes) payed by the Indigenous tribes.
The British, in the US most specifically, were set on eliminating the Native race through any means necessary. It comes with the idea of Manifest Destiny, which is why Texas is fought for, and the reason for which western US is obtained as well as the almost extinction of the Bison (food of the Sioux nation).
I read in the last census results that there are about 0.8% Native Americans in the US, compared to the rest of the population. It is a very sad thing.
One more thing, is it even sadder that they were declared US citizens until 1930's in the New Deal. 😔 😔
Anyway, please do not take this to the heart. It is just a historical brief.
